Tableau MT engine is trained with UA segments from UA TM, UI strings from UI TM and the DNT list from Tableau TD.
What to check during Light MTPE?
To be checked:
Ensure placeholders (e.g., {username}, <variable>) remain intact and are correctly positioned.
Verify that tags (e.g. <b>, <i>, {code}) are not altered or removed.
Example:
Correct: "Enter your {username} and click Submit."
Incorrect: "Enter your { user_name } and click Submit."
To be checked:
UI references (e.g., button names, menu items, field labels) are generated by the MT engine. Please verify if they were added correctly.
Can be skipped:
Minor formatting issues (e.g. missing bold/quotes) if meaning is clear.
To be checked:
Major inconsistencies that could confuse users. Synonyms should not be used for key terms in products. Key terms refer to essential words or phrases that have specific meanings, like, but not limited to, “workflow”, “data source”, “dashboard”, “field”, “marks”, “workbook”, “dimension”, “measure”, “site”, “visualization”, “worksheet”, “table”, “job”, “task” …
Example:
In Tableau, “job” and “task” cannot be used interchangeably. Misusing their translations can confuse users.
Can be skipped:
The post-editor does not need to verify terminology consistency, as the MT engine is expected to be trained with Tableau terminology from the termbase.
The translation or text should preserve the meaning of the original without adding, removing, or altering information.
Example:
Source: Load time: 3-5 minutes
Incorrect: Load time: 35 minutes (a typo changes the meaning drastically)
To be checked:
Fix awkward phrasing if it impairs comprehension.
Can be skipped:
Refining well-structured but stylistically inconsistent text.
Correct minor stylistic issues like, for illustrative purposes only, overuse of pronouns or passive verbs.
To be checked:
Correct spelling, basic punctuation, and grammar mistakes.
Fix verb tense inconsistencies and incorrect agreement of subjects, verbs, complements, gender, number.
Can be skipped:
Minor punctuation errors, like curly vs straight quotes.
