LQA
LQA stands for Linguistic Quality Assurance. It helps us to evaluate the quality of translations we deliver to Tableau, and at the same time, it serves as a training opportunity for our linguists. Feedback about translation quality is a part and parcel of the translation process.
LQA process:
Every other month, we select content from all components we worked on, UI, UA and Samples, and send it for evaluation to our Language Leads.
We then share the results with the translators for arbitration. During arbitration, translators either agree or disagree with the language lead's suggestions and if they disagree, they need to explain why they disagree. This step is very important - the result may change significantly in the end!
Commented LQA forms then go back to language leads for finalizing.Â
We track all the quality results internally to understand, evaluate and improve quality of our translations. We also share the quality results with Tableau.
Finalized LQA forms are also added into Bugnet, Jonckers internal issue tracking tool, and the suggestions from language leads are implemented into the next possible drop, either UI, UA or Samples. This way, we are continuously improving quality of translations for Tableau!
